Walking through the streets this morning I saw 6 old televisions sitting on the footpath. It is rubbish collection day tomorrow, so I suppose that is why. However, it lead me to think…. I hope with the phase out of analogue television and consequent upgrading of many TV sets, these old tellies are not ending up in land-fill…. Analogue TV’s have many toxic chemicals in them including lead that should not end up in the earth. I had a little trawl of the internet and found out how to recycle your old TV. ‘Planet Ark’ have a “Recycling Near You” hotline, they directed me to a division of my local council who will pick up old televisions (among many other things) for free and recycle them.
